*Special Driving Directions & Parking Instructions on Mardi Gras Parade Days*

 

We recommend you arrive 1-2 hours before parades are scheduled to start. For parades that start at 6:30 PM it is advised to arrive by 5pm (or earlier). For parade routes A, B, C, D, & F - Government street parade route blocks access from the north side, the float path up Claiborne street blocks us from the east, floats lined around the Civic Center block us from the southeast (including the Canal street exit), and the Bankhead Tunnel is closed due to parades on Government. Therefore, ignore the GPS and follow the local’s advice.

The best way to get into the Church Street East neighborhood is driving northbound on Washington from Canal Street, coming either northbound up Washington (from Virginia or Texas) or coming east from Broad and Canal then drive up Washington. Once you pass Canal/Washington driving north you enter into the neighborhood, then drive just 3 blocks Northeast to Church and Cedar. In the unlikely event you approach the intersection of Canal and Washington and are not let in, drive east on canal 100 feet and take small left turn into the neighborhood at Warren, drive north 2 blocks to Church, turn right 1.5 blocks to the house.

We recommend you print these directions and receipt that have the B&B address in case traffic police stop you at barricades. Parking next door at the corner lot of Cedar and Church can be available (except for Fat Tuesday). Street parking is free; carefully read signs for towing as usually one side of the street will tow from 2-hours before to 2-hours after a parade. From Feb 13-17 it is advised to come early, drop your bags first, find parking, and don’t plan to move the car much for the next 5 days.

 

 

From the East
Take I-10 Westbound across the bridge, do NOT take the Government Street / Bankhead tunnel but continue on I-10 West to either Texas or Virginia street. Turn right (westbound), drive a few blocks to Washington street, then turn right (northbound). Cross over Canal Street, now you are in the neighborhood. Drive east 3 blocks to Cedar and north 1-2 blocks to Church Street, and look ahead on your right- 504 Church is a big green house facing south.

 

From the Southwest
Take I-10 Eastbound to Virginia street. Turn left (westbound), drive a few blocks to Washington street, then turn right (northbound). Cross over Canal Street, now you are in the neighborhood. Drive east 3 blocks to Cedar and north 1-2 blocks to Church Street, and look ahead on your right- 504 Church is a big green house facing south.

 

From the West
If you are coming from midtown or near west, take Government street eastbound but turn south at or before Broad. Take Broad to Canal to Washington, then turn north. Now you are in the neighborhood. Drive east 3 blocks to Cedar and north 2 blocks to Church Street, and look ahead on your right- 504 Church is a big green house facing south.

If you are coming from further west or anywhere near I-65, take I-65 south to I-10 East and then follow instructions as if coming from the SW. Take I-10 Eastbound to Virginia street. Turn left (westbound), drive a few blocks to Washington street, then turn right (northbound). Cross over Canal Street, now you are in the neighborhood. Drive east 3 blocks to Cedar and north 2 blocks to Church Street, and look ahead on your right- 504 Church is a big green house facing south.

 

From the North
During parades when the east side of Church street is blocked, these are your best two options

a) Take I-165 South until it runs into Water street, then continue up ramp to I-10 West (toward Pascagoula) and drive 2 miles then exit on Texas street. Then follow directions above "From the East", or

b) Take I-65 South to I-10 East then follow directions above "From the West"
